After recent incidents of racism in the Premier League, ex-professional Stan Collymore (51) is demanding tougher penalties because hatred of people of color is once again openly evident in the stands of England.

Higher penalties: Following recent racist incidents involving fans of Premier League clubs Everton FC and Burnely FC, former professional footballer Stan Collymore is calling for tougher penalties to send a signal. He proposes lifelong stadium bans or particularly high fines of up to 6,000 euros for perpetrators, reports the “Mirror”.

Several cases: Recently, the families of FC Brentford stars Rico Henry and Ivan Toney were racially insulted at Goodison Park. Two Burnley fans have been arrested after being filmed giving the Nazi salute at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Long career: Within 10 years, Collymore played for Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Liverpool FC, Aston Villa, Fulham FC and Leicester City, among others. In 2005 he had a film role in Basic Instinct 2 alongside Sharon Stone.
