Kiev’s refusal to comply with the Minsk agreements can turn into serious problems. This was stated by a member of the Federation Council Sergey Tsekov, commenting on the statement of the speaker of the Kiev delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbass, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Alexey Arestovich that Kiev has got off the “hook” of the Minsk agreements.

The United States and Ukraine believe that the responsibility for the conflict in the Donbas lies exclusively with Russia, so the Minsk agreements do not bear any force. Such a position was voiced during the meeting of the presidents of the United States and Ukraine, which allowed Arestovich to make such loud statements, Tsekov explained to Lenta.ru”. However, the senator noted, it is not for Washington to decide the fate of the agreements, although it has assumed the role of a world gendarme.

Tsekov advised Ukraine to look at Afghanistan and other countries, whose example shows that the US intervention ends with the” suffering ” of the people. Ukrainians have already suffered from the intervention of the American side. The politician called Washington a provocateur, only fueling the conflict.

The Ukrainian authorities do not do the main thing – they do not grant a special status to the Donbass and do not introduce appropriate amendments to the constitution. “You can’t first sign documents of this level, and then renounce your words,” Tsekov summed up.

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, ironically responded to Kiev’s statement. She compared Arestovich’s words to the thoughts of a fish lying in a frying pan, which is happy that it has successfully got off the hook. And the head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Leonid Slutsky, called Arestovich’s statement incompetent. Slutsky recalled that there is no alternative to the Minsk agreements, Kiev is actually delaying their implementation.
