As told “RG” the head of the Sevastopol Association of assistance to development of the 11th coastal batteries Vladimir Semenov, the entrance to the bunker was sealed in the 1960-ies, after the battery has ceased to be a military target. Inside was not a valuable historical artifacts, but the interest is themselves an underground room, because it was carried out the defense of Sevastopol during the great Patriotic war.

First revealed the so-called “skvoznik” gallery intended to protect the entrance from the explosions. It was closed by a stone wall, so they climbed outsiders. Beyond the rubble of debris was discovered 920-pound armored door which remained open. Most likely, it are unable to budge due to corrosion. The doorway was laid three layers of Inkerman stone. Behind him was opened on an empty space.

– three-meter ceilings, arches, rooms adapted for the needs of staff, says Semenov. – The battery had four gun-yard, two-storey and two-storey. Most likely, on the first floor, there was a command, and the second, which is now our Museum, the shells were stored. The personnel lived in the barracks across the street. During the fighting, the commanders down to the first tier of the battery.

the Armored door, which was installed during the construction of the battery in 1900, now cleaned of rust, so it can be open and close. And to protect the interior from unwanted guests and vandals access skvoznik closes another metal door.

the Dungeons are going to drain, hold ventilation and lighting. Then in will install display cases for valuable items and personal belongings of the defenders of the city, which was kept in the family archives of the residents of Sevastopol and was handed over to the Museum. Now the exposition occupies 120 square meters, and new space will be added around 90 square meters.

– we Have an interactive Museum, we all get to hold her in his hands, – says Vladimir Semenov. – It is one thing to touch the machine, cast iron or the stove and the other orders and medals, personal belongings of soldiers, to relatives. We want to place in the Windows. Will also make the cinema room where we will be on the field equipment to turn documentaries. Sessions should take 15-20 minutes, children will not hatch.

the Most valuable medal in the collection “For defense of Sevastopol”. There’s a silver cigarette case with a picture of the tank, colored pencils Tactics, which made notes on the cards. Trophy typewriter Ideal, imported from Berlin, on her printed documents at the headquarters of the black sea fleet almost until the 1990-ies. Recently the collection was supplemented with a bottle of vodka, 1941, was sealed with wax with the imprint of “GaspRT” – these are the “narkomovskih 100 grams”. All these things had not been exhibited.

– We are not talking about admirals and generals, but about ordinary people who defended our city, were in the trenches, worked for the machines, drove the trams, continues Semenov. – When the war began, in Sevastopol, lived 112 thousand people, and after liberation in 1944, there are about 10 thousand. Of these 102 thousand someone was killed, someone fled or were deported to Germany. About these people and I would like to tell.

On the top tier of the battery is equipped with four Museum halls. “Men’s” room with weapons during the war, the “female” – with household items, sewing machine, machine tools. Here you can see the underground hospital and how they lived Sevastopol, forced to hide in basements. In the “children’s” room recreated the underground school class. In the besieged Sevastopol worked nine schools, because of the constant bombing they were located in the basements of houses. The lessons visited 2440 students. In may 1942, they received their certificates and report cards.

– we Have the authentic items that belonged to the inhabitants of Sevastopol, says Vladimir Semenov. Tutorials, 1935, ABC, 1952, abacus, slide rule, pen-fixings (they inserted metal feathers, hence the name), ink sippy. We invite children to write with this pen a letter to his ancestor on the front. When they begin to write “Dear grandfather” is very impressive. Try to put blobs – but now many don’t know what this BLOB.

In a separate room recreates the atmosphere of the headquarters of the separate coastal army. The tables at which sat the commanders, maps, radios, typewriters.

– 11-I coastal battery is significant in that here were management of all army forces during the defense of Sevastopol, – said the founder of the Museum. From the first day of the war was stationed here the command post of the coastal defence of the black sea fleet, which was headed by major General P. A. Morgunov. But from 3 November 1941 to 26 June 1942 there were the commander of the Maritime army major General I. E. Petrov. They say Petrov even bath was here.

the Museum focuses on children’s audience. “Why do adults teach patriotism?”, – says its Creator.

– When on the tour tell you how hard it was to go with a gun, boots, how hard to breathe in rooms with kerosene lamps, it is difficult to imagine, – said Semyonov. – When children put themselves in such a situation, get the layout of the machine, put on a helmet and trying to run down the slope at the battery, they’re beginning to accept the historical facts. And we say, your great-grandfathers with these rifles and machine guns ran on Sapun mountain for nine hours.
