Ukraine gives US false information in criminal cases. This was stated on Tuesday by the Minister of justice – US attorney General William Barr, speaking at a hearing in the judiciary Committee of the house of representatives of the Congress of the United States.
He was asked to explain the decision to move Prosecutor in the Eastern district of new York Richard Donohue to the Prosecutor General of the country and to oversee all investigations involving Ukraine and also the personal lawyer of the President of the United States Rudolph Giuliani.
"It was a measure of caution that we not be misled by the Ukrainian misinformation during a criminal investigation", – said the Minister.
"Attorney for the Eastern district [of new York] was given the right to supervise all concerning Ukraine’s Affairs, as well as for new cases involving that country. We are faced with the problem – from the Ukraine comes a lot of false information. There’s a lot of corruption", – said the head of the Ministry of justice.
He added that his Department sometimes difficult to sort out true information or false. Barr stressed that the decision in Donohue was taken "in cooperation with the intelligence community".
During the response, the Minister was repeatedly interrupted, which forced the senior Republican on the Committee Jim Jordan (of Ohio) to Express bewilderment. Jordan appealed to the Chairman of the Committee, Democrat Jerrold Nadler to: "You a few months waiting for the Minister of justice, and here he came on trial, and you don’t give him the words to say".
Nadler did not answer, but only made the remark to the Congressman, who "was not the word".
In June, Barr was released from his position of the Prosecutor of the southern district of new York Jeffrey Berman.
