the semi-finals of the international music festival “the Road to Yalta,” dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the great Patriotic war, will take place on 8 may in an online format. This was reported in the festival organizing Committee.

the event Organizers explained that the unusual format is due to announced by the world health organization pandemic COVID-2019 and the closure of borders and flight between the two countries. The finale of the festival, which was previously planned to be held in Yalta, postponed indefinitely.

– Today, many European countries have historical memory about the feats of Soviet soldiers deliberately distorted, – said the organizers. – The festival aims to return, to remind the Western audience of genuine, not a perverted image of the Soviet soldier – defender and liberator.

From 157 applications submitted from 37 countries the jury to participate in the semi-finals has selected 16 contestants. Performers from Indonesia, Thailand, China, Argentina, Latvia, Poland, France, Germany, Albania, Nigeria, Israel, Serbia, Italy and Cuba in their native languages will execute familiar to every Russian songs of the war years. All members of the jury noted high level of preparation and originality of the contestants filings.

the Eighth of may, the contestants from their apartments and houses will perform legendary songs about the war. Online festival will be broadcast on TV channel “Culture” and the Internet.

Among the guests were the Serbian filmmaker and musician Emir Kusturica, the son of Kay stamps and Utah, the actress Ekaterina Guseva. Leading semi-final will be artistic Director of the festival, a Russian journalist and TV presenter Ernest Matskyavichyus and his colleague Tatyana Remezova.

the winners of the festival, won the first, second and third place prize will receive a reward of 30 thousand, 20 thousand and 10 thousand euros respectively. Also the organizer of the festival there is a special prize and the audience award in 10 thousand Euro.
