The three-day ceasefire declared by the Taliban (an organization banned in Russia) in celebration of Eid al-Fitr, is an initiative that can help the peace process in Afghanistan, said on 25 may, the press service of the foreign Ministry.

Moscow has welcomed this step taken by the radical Afghan group. The Russian foreign Ministry expressed hope that the truce would start direct negotiations between the authorities and the Taliban (an organization banned in Russia).

“however, note that in the present situation a full and lasting ceasefire in Afghanistan is possible only after the launch of the inclusive inter-Afghan dialogue and the completion of the exchange of prisoners”, — stated in the message.

As previously reported IA REGNUM, the Taliban (an organization banned in Russia) on the occasion of the Muslim feast day Eid al-Fitr (Eid al-Fitr) has announced three-day truce in the war with the Afghan authorities. They noted that if they are attacked in these three days, they will reply.
