The mission control center TsNIIMash, part of the Russian space Agency, had an exceptional correction orbit of the International space station (ISS). This is required to avoid possible collision with space debris, is reported in the press service of the Corporation.

For the implementation of the maneuver was used the engines of the cargo ship “Progress MS-14”. It’s docked to the instrument compartment of the Zvezda module, which refers to the Russian segment of the ISS.

They [the engines] worked for about 100 seconds and said the station velocity increment of 0.5 m/s with the result that the height of the ISS orbit increased, according to preliminary data, at 900 meters, — quotes RIA Novosti message of Roscosmos.

The Corporation added that now the ISS crew is working on a planned program, and stop orbiting the earth is under constant control of the mission control Centres in the Russian Queen and Houston, TX.

What kind of space debris threatened the safety of the station, is not specified.

On the ISS are cosmonauts of Roscosmos Anatoly Ivanishin and John Wagner, as well as NASA astronauts Christopher Cassidy, Douglas Hurley and Robert Behnken.
