Russian farmers complain of the lack of available feed and the rise in their basic components: soybeans and soybean meal. This is stated in a letter to the Federal Antimonopoly service (FAS) of Senator Sergei Lisovsky, who turned on Sunday, June 7, at the disposal of “Izvestia”.

According to him, this problem has arisen due monopoly group of companies “Sodruzhestvo” in genetically modified a line of soybeans.

“In due time “the Commonwealth” has been able to certify genetically modified a line of soybeans, as a result, she became a monopoly. Today they not only supply in Russia genetically modified soy, but install it on a high price because the are a monopoly. Now our breeders are buying soybeans almost $130-140 more expensive than in Europe, — said the Senator.

Lisowski said that they not only supply to Russia of this component, but set him a high price. In 2017, the “Commonwealth” occupied a 81% of the market of soybean meal, and in 2018-2020 it accounted for about 99% of the import market of soybeans.

given the fact that the share of soybean meal in feed cost is around 35%, this growth significantly affects the cost of poultry meat production and ultimately the price to the consumer.

In this regard, the Senator may 13 sent to the FAS letter of request to conduct monitoring of the price situation in the market and to take measures to preserve competition. Decision can be a decision of the government on simplification of import of modified products.
