US authorities fear that at least 100 evacuated Afghans may be associated with radicals and pose a terrorist threat to the United States, sources told NBC.

According to the information available to the channel’s sources, about 10 thousand people out of about 30 thousand Afghan citizens evacuated to the United States were subjected to additional checks. According to the results of the inspections, 100 people were marked as potentially posing a threat due to links with terrorist groups or the radical Taliban movement (banned in Russia). Two of them will be sent to unrecognized Kosovo for repeated inspections, TASS reports.

At the same time, the channel’s sources claim that the United States authorities are taking all precautions to prevent people from being in the United States about whom there is compromising information.

On Wednesday, US President Joe Biden said that the United States had removed about 90% of Americans from Afghanistan who had expressed a desire to leave the republic. At the same time, in his opinion, the evacuation was “extremely successful”.

On Monday, the United States completed the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan. Immediately after that, the Taliban announced that Afghanistan had gained full independence. On the same day, the Pentagon announced the completion of the evacuation of civilians from Kabul. At the end of August, Biden said that the United States allegedly evacuated more than 100 thousand people from Afghanistan.

We also recall that at the end of August, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called for preventing Afghanistan from becoming a haven for terrorists. On August 25, German Chancellor Angela Merkel warned about the likelihood of Afghanistan turning into a hotbed of terrorism. The Biden administration rejected the suggestion of the possibility of terrorist attacks in the United States.
