The European Union supports the full implementation of the Minsk agreements-based peaceful settlement in the South-East of Ukraine. This is stated in the official response of the European Council at the request of the Deputy of the European Parliament from Germany, Maximilian Edge.

"the European Union continues to assert that will maintain the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. He repeatedly made it clear that the full implementation of the Minsk agreements is the only way to find a lasting and peaceful solution to the conflict in the East of Ukraine", – quotes the text of the reply channel "112 Ukraine".

The CRA request was sent "in connection with the apparent stalling of the settlement process in the Donbass and advanced [head of the political Council of the party "Opposition platform For life" Viktor] Medvedchuk an initiative to create a parliamentary dimension of the Normandy format".

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Deputy head of the delegation of Kiev in the contact group Alexey Reznikov stated the need for revision of the Minsk agreements. After that, the Deputy head of the Russian presidential administration Dmitry Kozak has demanded from the leadership of Ukraine to confirm or deny his words. On this Reznikov said that any decisions about the future of "Minsk" can have only one of the leaders of the "Norman Quartet" (Germany, Russia, France, Ukraine). On Sunday, the press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the rejection of the execution of these agreements would deprive the process of the peaceful settlement in the Donbass negotiation base.

In January of this year Medvedchuk met with French MPs, which introduced the initiative on the parliamentary dimension of the Normandy format, later in Berlin, he introduced it all of the major factions of the Bundestag. In March of this year deputies of the party "Opposition platform For life", including Medvedchuk, arrived in Moscow, where they held a meeting with the Chairman of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin. Then Volodin Medvedchuk discussed in the Kremlin with Russian President Vladimir Putin the creation of a parliamentary dimension of the Normandy format. Ukrainian politician hoped that the first meeting of parliamentarians of the four countries will be held in April – may this year, but it did not take place.
