Putin stood up for the Governor in a joking manner

Russian President Vladimir Putin interceded for the head of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina, joking about lowering interest rates, reports RIA "news".

During the meeting on development of automobile industry the first Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov commented on the reduction of the key rate of the Bank of Russia.

"Yesterday it was six percent today to 5.5 percent, as you know, but I think that the Central Bank will stop at some time," he said.

"Probably, Elvira is now looking and thinking – you can not please everyone. They called to lower the rate, now lowered and you…" – jokingly said Putin.

After that, he has assured that he fully supports the decision of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank.

Earlier it became known that the regulator cut the key rate to 5.5% per annum.
