FC Bayern can remove one candidate from their list for Robert Lewandowski’s episode: Bayer Leverkusen’s top scorer Patrik Schick has made a long-term commitment to the Werkself.

Contract until 2027: 24 goals in 27 Bundesliga games got half of Europe on the scene, but Bayer Leverkusen took striker Patrik Schick (26) off the market. The Czech international has extended his contract by two more years until 2027, the club announced on Thursday.

“Absolute world class”: “Patrik Schick played a fantastic season and demonstrated absolute world class in his position. There are only a few center forwards of his caliber internationally,” says Bayer’s sporting director Simon Rolfes on the club’s website.

Great prospects: Schick justifies his decision to play for the Werkself in the long term despite many offers: “I just feel good here. Above all, our team is a promise for the future. Qualifying for the Champions League is a good next step. A lot is possible here, which is exactly why I extended my contract at Bayer 04.”
