The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin congratulated the leaders of the Spiritual administrations of Muslims of Russia on Eid al-Adha, noting the important and creative work of Russian Muslims.

"Today, the Russian Ummah takes an active part in the public life of the country… Maintains a constructive dialogue with representatives of other traditional confessions, makes a significant contribution to counter terrorism and extremism, promotes peace and harmony in society. We appreciate this important creative work", – said in greeting.

The Prime Minister also noted that the Russian Ummah implements cultural and educational projects, gives to charity and cares about the preservation of their ancient traditions.

Eid al-Fitr, or Eid-al-Fitr – Islamic holiday celebrated in honor of the end of the fasting month of Ramadan, during which Muslims do not eat or drink from dawn until sunset. This year the day of the beginning of the celebration of Eid al-Adha according to the lunar calendar identified on may 24.

This year Eid al-Fitr will take place without mass events due to the coronavirus. The President of Russia Vladimir Putin on may 18 asked the Muslims to heed the calls of Muftis and to celebrate the feast at home, to abandon the collective prayers and traditions to gather in this day of big companies.
