Lavrov Moscow does not intend to introduce a border regime with Belarus

“the Grounds to impose a state border, we do not see. We are interested in the fact that the Federal government developed in accordance with the principles, objectives and directions that were laid out in the Union agreement of 1999,” – said the Russian foreign Minister.

at the same time the head of the Russian depodesta has noticed that in Union state Treaty, the two countries pledged to create equal conditions for citizens of Belarus and Russia in any sphere of life.

during his speech, Lavrov also responded to criticism of the Eurasian economic Union (EEU), which besides Russia and Belarus, includes Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, and Moldova is an observer. This criticism, the Minister believes, is linked to competition for Central Asia, including from the West.

“there is No limit to perfection. But if in Kyrgyzstan spread opinion that it is necessary to change something (the EAEC), I do not exclude that it is a reflection of a competitive process, reflect competition for Central Asia, which is actively joined by our Western colleagues. We believe that such competition is counterproductive, far better to cooperate, to help Central Asian countries”, – quoted Lavrov RIA Novosti.

the Russian foreign Minister also said that the EEU in its development will take into account the EU experience, especially in the question of distribution of powers between national governments and supranational structures in crises.

“the European Union now, as we all are going through very tough times, but this crisis has coincided with the aggravation of the discussion within the EU about the optimum relationship between the functioning of supranational bodies and the responsibility of national governments. Of course, we have discussed in the EEU. We must always learn from the crisis some lessons that will be useful in the future, and how these issues will be addressed in the EU, for us it would be very useful in order to choose solutions to the corresponding problems within the Eurasian economic Union,” Lavrov was quoted by TASS.

the Head of the Russian foreign Ministry also noted that the EEU countries to more effectively deal with the current crisis it is necessary to develop a collective international structure, in particular the Eurasian development Bank. “As member countries of the EAEU can with minimal losses to go through these difficult times? I am convinced that only together”, – concluded Lavrov.
