The Minister of internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov said about the beginning of the “anti-diversionary operations” in the area of extinguishing forest fires from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. About this he wrote on his page in Facebook.

Avakov noted that the rapid spread of fire contributed to the “freakishly dry winter” where the forest floor was vulnerable to fire. Also dried out the peat bogs.
