At the end of the first half of 2020 the average concentrations of the major anthropogenic pollutants in the city. Specialists also said that the Moscow air has become cleaner compared to the same period of 2019.

Information about the state of the air comes from Moscow 56 automatic monitoring stations of air pollution, meteorological complexes, mobile laboratories and analytical laboratories. They are located near highways, on residential and natural areas, as well as in the territories under the influence of industrial enterprises.

the Station operate around the clock. This allows to obtain timely information and to monitor any changes in air pollution. Data from monitoring stations are available on the website.

the concentration of the main pollutants in the capital are: the oxide of nitrogen — 0,2 maximum permissible average daily concentration of a chemical in air (×), the carbon monoxide is 0.1×, sulphur dioxide less than 0.1×, of suspended particles PM10 — 0,5 × and nitrogen dioxide — 0,7×.

cases, the high level of atmospheric air pollution by main pollutants is not registered.

Also decreased the number of cases of exceedances of the standards for carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter PM10 and sulphur dioxide exceedances are not fixed. The growth of concentrations in excess of standards was associated with weather conditions.

In the city the concentration of carbon monoxide was below last year’s level by 11 percent, dioxide and nitrogen oxide by 22 percent, sulfur dioxide by 36 percent, particulate matter PM10 by 13 percent.

Near roads the average concentrations of contaminants did not exceed established standards, with the exception of nitrogen oxide and suspended particles PM10 — exceeding their maximum single concentrations was observed with the deterioration of conditions of dispersion in the atmosphere. The frequency of occurrence of exceedances was less than one percent (near the ring road — 5.6%). Near highways the concentrations of contaminants in the first half of 2020 decreased by 10-15 percent compared to the same period last year.

residential neighborhoods the average concentrations of main pollutants did not exceed the established standards and were within 0,04–0,6×. The excess was observed only in nitrogen oxide and particulate matter PM10 with a repeatability of less than 0.1%. For all major pollutants in the first half there was a decrease in concentrations.

reducing the level of air pollution occurred despite the fact that this year there are often conditions that prevent dispersion of harmful substances.

Days with such adverse conditions was almost twice (21). They were most often observed in February and March and also in June.

Positive changes in the state of air connected with the measures taken to improve the environment in Moscow, and also with a reduction in the intensity of traffic during the period of self-isolation.

Also, the reduction in emissions is observed from stationary sources. According to the automated control system in the first half of 2020, the quantity of industrial emissions of thermal power engineering facilities has decreased by almost 19 percent.

Actual data about the state of atmospheric air in Moscow published in the report on the state of the environment on the website of the Moscow Department of nature use and environmental protection.
