In Kalmykia engineering group of the southern military district, was extracted from the underground bunkers about 200 rounds and other explosive hazards. In 1942 this place was stationed Nazi rear strong point with artillery warehouses and a network of underground bunkers.
“the Total area of the territory, which can be detected in the shells, hand grenades and mortar shells exceeds 10 hectares. The engineers continue mine clearance,” – said the press service of YUVO.
All detected explosives will be destroyed on the spot by blasting.
According to local residents, they have long been regarded as dangerous to land, because at the end of 1980-ies there have been cases of erosion of agricultural machinery and livestock.
Note that last year in Kalmykia sappers defused more than 800 explosive subjects of times of the great Patriotic war.
