Orbán and his government with the new law carte blanche to restrict human rights, says Amnesty.

Hungary’s parliament with the votes 137-53 Monday voted for a law that makes it possible for prime minister Viktor Orbán’s government to govern per the decree.

the Law is according to the government needed to be able to act effectively against the spread of coronaviruses.

The new law has received massive criticism from, among others, Amnesty International.

the Organization believes that the Hungarian government resorts to means that are not proportionate with the health crisis, such as Hungary and the rest of the world.

– This law will create an unlimited and uncontrolled nødretstilstand and give Viktor Orbán and his government carte blanche to restrict human rights, said Amnesty International’s director for Hungary, David Cove, Sunday.

Orbán’s party, Fidesz, has a two-thirds majority in parliament and therefore had it easy to get the law passed.
