Prague wanted to normalize relations with Moscow. At least the Czech foreign Ministry through diplomatic channels, sent to the partners to Russia a note with the proposals to start consultations on the settlement of disputes in mutual relations, which have deteriorated against the backdrop of the dismantling of the monument to Marshal of the Soviet Union Ivan Konev, writes TASS.

According to the head of Department Tomasz Petricca, the Russian side has not responded yet, but talked about the possibility of a settlement in the media. Consultations, the Minister added, are the standard mechanism provided for by the agreement on friendly relations and cooperation between the Czech Republic and Russia.

the Minister also rejected the allegations of violation of Czech obligations under existing contracts with Russia, and warned against attempts at foreign interference in the internal Affairs of the Republic.

the Monument is Konev in Prague was demolished on 3 April. In this regard, on April 10, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case under part three of article 354.1 criminal code (“the Desecration of symbols of Russia’s military glory, committed publicly”). The Czech foreign Ministry said in response that is considered unacceptable harassment of its officials of a foreign government.

In 2017, the Czech Republic revised the role Konev in history. In addition to the information on the role of commander in the liberation of Prague from the Nazis in 1945, on the plate of the monument there was a mention of the suppression of the Hungarian uprising of 1956 and the preparation of the invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968.
