Coronavirus has increased demand for cryogenic equipment

Companies producing cryogenic equipment in the country. One of them is located in the Rostov region. Correspondent “RG” talked with the head of the plant Igor Tarzanom.

– the Cryogenic equipment needed for storage, transportation and use of technical gases and oxygen, he explains. – First of all we are talking about tanks, which are double-walled vessels with vacuum insulation and inside covered with an additional insulating element. Simplistically speaking, is a kind of thermos in which you pour liquid oxygen, nitrogen, argon, or helium. Airtight insulation allows to preserve its properties for a long time – up to 30 days. There is no evaporation of gas and increasing the pressure in the tank. These “flasks” provide the necessary storage of various gases in the liquid state the temperature to minus 200 degrees and even less. Of course, this is quite a complex production. Also cryogenic equipment includes installation for the liquefaction of gases and gasification systems, which, on the contrary, converts the liquid gas into a gaseous state and, if necessary, mixed with air. It is this mixture of oxygen and air, by the way, is served in the ventilators.

And why do you need to liquefy gas?

Igor Tarzana: In a liquefied state its volume is reduced 600 times. Accordingly, since gas is easier to transport and store. And safer, too. If you are using cryogenic equipment, the pressure is a maximum of 40 atmospheres, and in a normal oxygen tank – 150-200 atmospheres. There are some cylinders and with a pressure of 250 atmospheres.

How to market is changing the structure of demand and sales in the context of the epidemic of the coronavirus?

Igor Tarzana: Sales have doubled at the expense of the health facilities. In fact, demand more, however, there are serious limiting factors. Yes, the cryogenic equipment is very popular, but not to release him in a day or two. Manufacturing such products requires not less than three months. The market is difficult to predict. Cryogenic equipment is still not a car, sales of which are easier to calculate. First, a significant portion goes through public tenders. In this case the customer is a hospital may refuse purchases if, for example, its costs are not funded in full. In addition, each hospital has its own individual requirements for purchased equipment. Someone needs triamcot volume of three cubes, some five cubes. Recently, for example, received an order from the hospital in KCR by 10-cubic capacity. Of course, to provide all the item, and contain a number of different equipment on good quality, competitive pricede very hard. It means “to freeze” money. In addition, some components needed for production are produced abroad – in China and Germany. Their delivery to Russia, doing a large wholesale company which warehouses are already nearly empty because of interrupted supply chains. I think your inventory you can still survive up to a month or two, but if the supply of components will not resume, there will be a serious problem.

But in China, the epidemic is on the decline, and the industry is recovering.

Igor Tarzana: Yes, I recently talked to Chinese colleagues. They say they are almost ready to start shipping. But you need to understand that the container from China will come after 45 days. And it is better to lay in the calculations of two months. In addition, a container of expensive components to one enterprise do not need.

Can this critical period to help the authorities?

Igor Tarzana: And how, if the necessary materials are now simply not even on the Moscow warehouses? As in the case of medical masks, there arose a high demand and practically sold out.

Then how do you solve the problem?

Igor Tarzana: Trying to use the fact that there are still. For example, if a customer requires patikova capacity, we offer him alternatives volume 3 or 10 cubic meters with the possibility to reconfigure the equipment or to exchange it in the future. Many customers go for it because of the current deficit.

is there other Russian regions large enterprises that are ready to meet the increased demand?

Igor Tarzana: Yes, but not always they have the opportunity. They focused mainly on the military industry. If you receive a large order from the military for a few billion, then of course it becomes a priority, and in this situation it is difficult to reconfigure production.

How much demand will be the cryogenic equipment after the end of the epidemic?

Igor Tarzana: This is quite a promising market, even if not to take into account delivery in the hospital. For example, storage tanks for technical gases will be especially in demand in terms of conversion of gas vehicles and boilers. Already, by the way, there were negotiations with the Italian partners on the establishment of joint ventures producing equipment for the gas industry. Another promising direction is the production of cryogenic tanks of small volumes of so – called creationto for medical institutions.

whether in the future the epidemic of the production process?

Igor Tarzana: we Now have remote working accountants, economists and development Department. Is was infull justified and I think in the future it will continue for part of the employees. When a large amount of work, of course, preferable to work in the office for direct interaction. But in the absence of hectic activity, working remotely will allow companies to abandon the leased office space.
