The organization of Korean centers for control and disease prevention (KCDC) reported that all of the recent foci distribution COVID-19 in South Korea arose from the so-called strain GH. It is much faster and more contagious than previous subspecies of the novel coronavirus.

The new type of coronavirus is classified into several strains of S, V, L, G, GH, GR and O (“other”). In South Korea first spread of the epidemic strain S from China, which then mutated into a V. However, from April-may in South Korea mainly occur infecting strain of G and its subgroups GR and GH imported from abroad.

It is believed that the strain GH, which is a mutation of the strain S, is distributed six times faster than other subspecies of the novel coronavirus.

It multiplies in the cells faster than the S strain, and well attached to human cells, which implies a higher infectivity, stated at the briefing the head of the KCDC Jong Eun Kyung

This strain was also found in Europe, North and South America, and parts of Africa.

Two months ago, South Korea has relaxed quarantine measures, but in the end I had to re-tighten due to the emergence of local virus in Seoul and the suburbs. Got sick in the night clubs and people associated with the warehouse company Coupang. These lesions rapidly moved beyond the capital region. In KCDC sequenced the genome of the virus material from 526 patients with COVID-19, and the nucleotide sequence corresponding to the group GH, were detected in 333 cases.

Different strains of the virus due to its mutations. Agents of different groups manifest themselves a little differently. So, Italian doctors say that after receiving the first patients, it became clear that the therapy offered in Chinese Wuhan, did not give the same results. Experts believe that antiviral drugs is needed to use the plasma from recovered patients. Then the mortality rate would be reduced from 15 to 6%.

Earlier the General Director of “Vector” Rinat Maksyutov said that in Russia from the moment of registration of the first infected identified more than 100 strains of coronavirus.

In late may, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova told about the low variability COVID-19. Then she said that described only a few dozen mutations. The Popova called “normal” for any microorganism.

Meanwhile, scientists from the United States identified six major groups of coronavirus, which are currently circulating in the world. Since the beginning of the epidemic, the genome of the virus has mutated so that now it is possible to identify all species and to track them. The definition of clonal groups is necessary in order to predict the further spread of infection and possible mutation.

March 11, the world health organization declared the pandemic outbreak of novel coronavirus infection originated in China. Today COVID-19 has infected more than 11.4 million people worldwide, more than 534 thousand died. Russia ranks fourth in the number of people infected in the world — revealed 687 862 infected. In the first place USA — 2 888 635 at the second Brazil — 1 055 603, the third India — 697 413. Also in the top ten countries of Peru, Chile, UK, Mexico, Spain and Italy. The smallest number of cases of coronavirus in Papua New Guinea 11 cases. The population of the Kingdom in Oceania is just over 7 million people, wrote
