international film festival of Asian Pacific countries this year will be held not in September, when the South of Primorye is in the “Indian summer”, and a month later – from 10 to 16 October. Representatives of the organizing Committee said at the first online conference that, despite the pandemic coronavirus, interest in participating is high: filmmakers from over 100 countries sent to the selection Committee about 1,400 tapes.

“We first got the pictures from Greenland, Panama, Mauritius and Sudan. We have developed 18 programs, including competitive, “Cinema of Russia” program for teenagers, documentaries, retrospectives and three others. New – “Banderovskie readings”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Hollywood star Yul Brynner born in Vladivostok. We will show the films with his participation, and arrange meetings with his son Rock, which became the mascot of our festival, and something else came up, but it’s a surprise. Finally we will create the program in mid-July, as applications for participation still to come,” – told the program Director of the festival Yury Goncharov.

The biggest uncertainty is the participation of star guests that need to arrive in Vladivostok in a new date, not afraid of the epidemiological situation in the world.

“That’s when I’ll buy all the tickets, then you are able to name specific names”, – assured General Director of “Pacific Meridian” Efim Senacki.

But the President of the festival Andrei Konchalovsky confirmed that will arrive. And the Director Pavel Lungin, connecting to the online conference, promised to bring a new movie, based on the work of a famous Israeli writer Meir Shalev.

“I am pleased to send greetings to their favorite festival, I hope to meet. “Esau” – modern story of twin brothers, a family drama with a biblical subtext about the relationship between the closest relatives,” – said Pavel Lungin.
