Jesper, Miguel and Kim from DRs overlevelsesprogram ’Alone in the wilderness’ is just like the rest of Denmark is now more or less isolated at home in these corona-times. But unlike us, they have a special training to be alone.

Here you can read how they tackle the situation, and, not least, what is their best advice to be alone.

How are you influenced by the current corona-situation?

“It is part of the nature walk. It cleans out once in a while, so for me it is quite natural. The violent is that people will become so afraid. The anxiety that is being created is almost more dangerous than the corona. Right now I’m sitting alone in my ødegård in Sweden, and it works fine.”

What do you get the time to go with?

“I use quite much time to seek out in nature and meditate. So completely out in the wilderness. It is how to set it. So I am of course also in the news, but most to keep an eye on, though I have to be in Sweden. It is a common task here, and I think, Mette Frederiksen does it really well.”

Have you been sick?

“No, not really. Therefore, there has been little common flu symptoms along the way, but not otherwise.”

What is your best overlevelsesråd to people who do not have a forest, they can meditate in?

“You have to surrender to the situation and might exploit the fact that we have the time to search within ourselves. We humans can develop ourselves the most when we are being pressured. In addition, one must keep your spirits high and make things you think are fun. If at first you dig in and get stressed over the news of the deaths, then it becomes an uphill battle.”

How did you react when you were finished with your isolation in ‘Alone in the wilderness’?

“I first want to say that you cannot draw direct parallels to what we are experiencing now, is not isolated as in the wilderness. We have a tv, we can see other people, so it is not the same. But for me it was not easy to get back. When I came home, I said hi to them, that come nigh me, and so I took 14 days out in the woods again. The first week I had my son with. I did it to get myself used to be together with people again.”

How are you influenced by the current corona-situation?

“of Course it’s sour, if it hits my grandma, and we must take care of each other. I have had to close half of my company (outdoor group exercise, red.), but it has so far fine to be home.”

How are you with that should be as much within doors?

“I hate it, so I’m taking all the time out in the woods. My wife is pregnant and will give birth to about 8-10 weeks, so she is enjoying herself at home the while.”

How did you feel when you came home from ‘Alone in the wilderness’?

“It was so fat. It was a great experience to be away, but it was also a waste of time, for it I made up there, I make at home, so I was bored me and quickly found out that I would rather home to my family.”

do you Feel anyway, you can use your time in the wilderness now?

“Yes, for the heck. Several have also said that they know who they should contact if there suddenly is no power and water in the tap, haha.”

you Have a good overlevelsesråd to the corona-stricken danes?

“Keep yourselves in time. Come out and get some fresh air. Stress be counteracted best by fresh air and sunlight. It is bloody stupid to sit inside and be more ill.”

How are you influenced by the corona-the situation?

“I am discharged from my work on a large weblager outside of Kolding and have had to cancel my friluftskurser. I have my family, but can feel that I am missing the social interaction from colleagues. That’s how it is. You discover first, what to appreciate, when you don’t have it.”

How is it compared to when you were alone in the wilderness?

“There was a paragraph to be alone. The uncertainty was the same, for it knew not when it ended. But now I have, as I said, my family and can go out on my terrace and see other people.”

How to tackle you so that the situation?

“You have to accept the premise as soon as possible. I did it also in the wilderness, where it just took a couple of days. Corona virus is still outside of my influence. We are a family of four and doing something together all the time, whether it is indoor or outside, away from other people. You may as well get the best out of it.”
