This opinion was expressed by the Minister of defence of Russia Sergey Shoigu at the polling station in Moscow, reports “WORLD 24”.

To participate in the nationwide voting on amendments to the basic law of the country, Shoigu came to the site in a protective mask. The Minister stated that every Russian citizen is obliged to vote, expressing their civic position.

The defense Minister noted that the Constitution affects the lives of every citizen. Most of the amendments is socially oriented and aimed at further sustainable economic development of the country, improving the welfare and protect the rights of Russians. He also said that a very important amendment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of borders of the country.

Recall that a nationwide vote on the constitutional amendments was originally scheduled for April 22 but then postponed due to the coronavirus. Later, President Vladimir Putin has appointed new date of 1 July. Due to the epidemiological situation and for the safety of Russians will be able to vote all week from 25 June to 1 July. Residents of Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod region have the opportunity to vote online.

According to the latest data, the turnout in e-voting for amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation reached 75%
