the 365-th anti-aircraft battery is situated 700 metres South-West of the railway station MekenIeva mountains. To locals it is known as battery Pyanzina, and the Germans called it the “Fort Stalin.” It is associated with one of the brightest pages of the heroic history of Sevastopol.

– 365-I anti-aircraft battery began to resist the Nazis on 30 October 1941, the first day of the defense of Sevastopol. And for 213 days kept the Nazis in the main direction to Sevastopol, – said Marina Gavrilenko. Military height 60.0 predominated over the city, so the Nazis made her take a very large value. They are called battery “Fort” – that says a lot. Battery repulsed 15 attacks of the Nazis, shot down 5 planes and 7 tanks, twice caused the fire itself. 13 June 1942 the third battery commander, 22-year-old Ivan Pyanzin fire caused the Soviet batteries on, and the 365-th anti-aircraft battery ceased to exist. It is unique in the history of our air defense battery, which gave the three Heroes of the Soviet Union senior Lieutenant Nikolay Vorobyov, senior Lieutenant Ivan Pyanzin and sailor Peter Lipovenko.

On the initiative of “Debt” in 2000, the height of 60.0 was renamed to the Height of the Characters, so it is marked on modern maps.
