Elena G., Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation has developed a Program of strategic academic leadership. What opportunities it opens up for the University?

Elena Kataeva: This programme is a systemic step for the transformation of universities. Very important it the objective of formation of consortia and the achievement of real effect on the economy. We participate in the program – the opportunity to accelerate the development of the University as a distribution center personnel and scientific and technological development of the industry through the revival of the machine tool. For effective digital production, we need new competencies. We chose this end-to-end track, which is different from most technical universities with subject orientation. And has launched a new master degree programmes and further education. Services for the analysis of readiness of enterprises for digital transformation and technological audit also badly needed by the enterprises.

With some academic organizations and for some projects the partnership supports the University?

Elena Kataeva: the University successfully cooperates with more than 10 major scientific organizations of Russian Academy of Sciences, including Institute of management. V. A. Trapeznikov, Institute for design-technological Informatics, Institute of machines science named. A. A. Blagonravova and others. Together with them we carry out research projects and research programs in the field of computer simulation and control of technological systems, the development of new multifunctional coatings with controlled nanostructure, spark plasma sintering and additive technologies. The results of the research are published in highly ranked scientific journals. In addition, the University participates actively in information-analytical activities and examination by the structures of RAS. In order to perform R & d carried out by the Institute, we provide access to scientific equipment common use Centre gits “MSTU “STANKIN”.

What are the new requirements now apply to training in high-tech industries?

Elena Kataeva: Today requires personnel for the management of digital manufacturing, equipment design, information and technology systems and digital engineering. Of critical importance in this case is the existence of links with leading international centers of innovation in digital production technology that allows us to be in the industry “frontier”. Therefore, we work closely with leading industry centres in this region in developing their educational programs. In my opinion, in addition to the databaseoriented engineering skills graduates should have end-to-end and framework expertise: environmental and systemic technical thinking, fast learner, self-control, self-development, work in the regime of high uncertainty.
