Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the situation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan with the permanent members of the security Council of Russia. As reported TASS, said Putin’s press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.

Last week, as reported by “the Rambler”, Armenia and Azerbaijan have accused each other of shelling its positions in the border Tovuz and Tavush regions and announced retaliatory attacks.

Today Putin discussed the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border with the permanent members of the security Council — Deputy Chairman and Secretary of the security Council, the chairmen of both chambers of Parliament, Ministers of interior and foreign Affairs, heads of the foreign intelligence Service (SVR) and Federal security service (FSB), the head of administration and the special representative of the President on issues of environmental activities, environment and transport.

During the meeting, the participants expressed extreme concern about the escalation of the situation and the readiness for mediation in the question of its settlement and stressed the urgent need to ensure the cease-fire.
