MOSCOW, 28 APR — RIA Novosti. In Severodvinsk, on the basis of the city hospital works “School of stroke” in which neuropsychologists help patients to rehabilitate after the disease. The goal of the project is to help people possible to restore all functions.
“School of stroke” per month visit 15-17 people, as a rule, these are people from 40 years. As explained by the specialist of public relations Severodvinsk city hospital №1 Alexey Shashkov, rehabilitation only deal with patients under treatment in the hospital.
every visitor to the school has a professional neuropsychologist, his task is to determine what functions the person violated, and to what extent. After that, he develops a methodology which can be used to replace the missing functions and to teach people how to live, given the negative consequences of stroke.
After the patient’s discharge from the hospital the burden of caring for them usually falls on relatives. Not all are ready, and not everyone knows how to properly care and provide the necessary assistance. Specialist of “School of stroke” subject to examination of the patient relatives gives advice and talks about how on the nuances necessary to pay special attention.
Also the neuropsychologist prepares medical records for specialized doctors of other specialties. Upon completion of the program specialist is always ready to provide psychological support for both patient and his relatives.
“it so Happens that the person loses interest in life, can make a suicide attempt. The challenge for the neuropsychologist in this case, to assist in overcoming psychological problems,” said Alexei Shashkov.
As noted neuropsychologist “School of stroke” Natalia Antonyuk, people who had health problems, even in the complete restoration of disturbed functions requires more attention than before the illness, and his relatives must change the habitual way of life, focusing on the needs of the patient.
“the Process of integration into the family of the man who has had a stroke, is quite complicated. Characterized by a syndrome of maladjustment both the patient and his relatives. As explained to RIA Novosti in the press service of the Ministry of health of the Arkhangelsk region, currently the work of the “School of stroke” temporarily suspended due to the epidemiological situation.
