The Supreme Court canceled the registration of the candidate for deputy of the State Duma from the “Russian Party of Freedom and Justice” (RPSS), businessman Dmitry Potapenko, included in the federal list of political forces approved by the Central Election Commission (CEC). On Wednesday, September 1, Interfax reports.

The claim for cancellation of registration was filed by the Central Election Commission itself. This is due to the receipt of information about the presence of foreign financial assets.

Potapenko himself explained that we are talking about shares of Yandex and Sberbank purchased through brokerage offices.

At the end of August, the chairman of the CEC, Ella Pamfilova, commented on the withdrawal from the elections to the State Duma of the deputy of the Pskov Regional Assembly, Lev Shlosberg. She stressed that she does not consider him to have anything to do with extremists. Before that, the registration of Shlosberg was canceled by the Moscow City Court. The politician himself considers this decision illegal and unfounded. He said that he plans to appeal it to the First Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction.

Also in August, Anton Furgal, the son of the arrested former governor of the region, Sergei Furgal, was denied registration as a candidate for the State Duma elections. The Khabarovsk election commission motivated its decision by too much marriage in the signatures collected in support of Furgal Jr.

The elections of deputies of the State Duma of the eighth convocation will be held on a single voting day on September 19. On the same day, the elections of the heads of 12 subjects of the Federation and the elections of deputies of legislative bodies of state power in 39 regions will also be held.
