The Kremlin urged not to give an apocalyptic colouring to the collapse in oil prices

MOSCOW, 21 April. /TASS/. Press-Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov called speculative point drop in the price of may futures for oil which do not give rise to overly negative assessments of reality.

“Yesterday (Monday) there was a collapse of the prices of may futures, the price of oil would not go into negative values”, — stated the representative of the Kremlin in an interview with reporters.

According to him, “of course, it doesn’t need to give the something apocalyptic coloring”. Press-Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation referred to the opinions of experts: “All the experts are well aware that this is no reason to overly negative assessments of the current reality, because oil prices show, though not a positive trend, but they are not affected by this precipitous change, as it affected futures”.

Peskov assured that the Russian authorities will use all available resources to mitigate the negative effects of the fall in oil prices in the world for the Russian economy.

“the Main thing here is that our government, our leadership has all the necessary reserves to dampen the negative effects of the international volatilnosti for our economy”, — said the representative of the Kremlin to journalists on Tuesday.

He assured: “Certainly, if necessary all of these resources that are on hand will be requested”.

Peskov also said that contacts between the parties to the transaction OPEC+ will be implemented if necessary, but still any decisions about their conduct there.

“There are all mechanisms of reconciliation of positions with our partners in this transaction, if necessary, will be adequate contacts,” Peskov said, answering the question about the possibility of new decisions made by OPEC+. He refrained from any comments about whether new solutions in this field in connection with the situation in the oil market.
