The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the resolution on the appeal to other parliaments and assemblies of international organizations with a call to increase pressure on Russia. Voted for the document 309 of 382 deputies registered in the session hall, UNIAN reports.

Parliament asks foreign colleagues to continue the policy of non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea to Russia, to strengthen the political-diplomatic and sanctions pressure on Russia and to condemn human rights violations in Crimea and the Donbass. Ukrainian MPs called on the international community to demand from Moscow to abandon the “expansion of the aggressive actions in the black sea region,” overlapping waters “under the pretext of military exercises” and the blocking of Ukrainian ports “hybrid methods”.

In addition, the Parliament considers it necessary to demand that Russia lift the ban on the activities of “Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people” (recognized in Russia extremist organization) and to provide for its controlled territories access to education in the Ukrainian language. The resolution States that from the Crimea deported the local inhabitants and populated by Russian citizens, which leads to “change the demographic composition” of the Peninsula. The Ukrainian Parliament also requests to condemn the construction of the bridge Crimea and to use all possible sanctions against the people, companies and authorities “involved in the implementation of occupation policy.”

Separately, the Verkhovna Rada called on the international community to demand from Russia to stop the “expansion of its jurisdiction” to the nuclear facilities in Crimea, the use of “captured by Ukrainian enterprises of the defense industry.” Ukrainian MPs are asked to “abandon all military cooperation” with Moscow, including military exercises and the transfer of defense technology.

After the change of power in Ukraine in 2014 as a result of mass anti-government protests, the Crimea became part of Russia, and part of the territory of Donetsk and Lugansk regions declared independence. Kiev accuses Russia of occupation of these lands.
