The police arrested a young man in a subway station in the heart of the EU quarter in Brussels. A dpa reporter observed this on site on Monday evening. A few minutes earlier, passersby had shouted: “He has a knife”, as a dpa reporter heard. In the evening, Brussels Mayor Philippe Close wrote on Twitter: “Knife attack in the Schuman station”. Good police cooperation led to a quick arrest. Initially, there was no confirmation from the police for an attack with a knife.
Several police officers with dogs were also on duty at the Schuman stop during the arrest, shielding the area. Right in front of the European Commission, rescue workers took care of passers-by.
A police spokeswoman told the dpa that she could confirm an arrest. There is also one injured person – she does not know how badly injured she is at the moment. Beyond that, no further details were initially given.
As the Brussels transport company announced on Twitter, local public transport in the area around the Schumann stop was partially stopped – due to a police operation. The Schuman station is right between important EU institutions and is used by many EU employees. The EU Commission, the Council of the European Union and the Foreign Service of the EU are right next to the station.
Lucas Cordalis did not exactly become a crowd favorite in the jungle camp. Even behind the cameras there was little sympathy for Daniela Katzenberger’s husband, as show author Micky Beisenherz has now revealed.
Anne Will surprised a few weeks ago with her soon-to-be talk show – something has also changed privately with the presenter: she is said to be newly in love. Her new friend is 26 years younger and writer Helene Hegemann.
