Polish political scientist Paul Semmler called the most serious terrorist threat to Russia. In an interview with Onet he said that the main problem for Russia now represent the militants in Syria. The danger is that broken of a gang of terrorists from Idlib tries to find refuge in the Caucasus.

According to him, the mercenaries from the former Soviet republics constituted the elite core of foreign fighters in Syria.
