Imposing sanctions against the Russians and the Saudis, Britain has shown itself as a "power good", said the foreign Minister of the United Kingdom Dominic Raab.
On Monday, Britain published a list of individuals and organizations, whom it accuses of human rights violation. The list included 25 Russians, whom London considers implicated in the death of lawyer Sergei Magnitsky in 2009, as well as 20 Saudis suspected of involvement in the murder of opposition journalist Jamal Casucci. The list also includes two generals from Myanmar and two North Korean structure, accused of torture, murder and the use of prison labor. All the defendants in the list are denied entry to the UK, the authorities will freeze all their assets if any will be detected in the United Kingdom.

"Today we are making the list of 49 individuals and organizations responsible for the worst crimes against human rights in the recent past. It is a demonstration that the global Britain acts in the world as a force for good", – said the Minister, speaking on Monday in Parliament.
According to him, the sanctions regime will allow the UK to prosecute individuals and organizations around the world, in contrast to the conventional mechanism of sanctions, which are aimed at a specific country. The decision on the replenishment list will be taken by the group of specialists in various departments of the British foreign Ministry.
The statement, issued after the publication of the sanctions list, said that immediately after his speech in Parliament Raab in the building of the Ministry will meet with Magnitsky’s widow Natalya, the son of a lawyer Nikita, "and his friend and colleague bill Browder".
In the sanctions list included the names of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin, a former Deputy interior Minister Alexei Anichin, the judge Alexey Krivoruchko, judge Svetlana Ukhnaliou and a number of other people.
The Russian Embassy in London protested the inclusion in the list of names of employees of the Investigative Committee and Prosecutor General’s office, promised retaliatory measures by Russia.
Sanctions imposed according to entered into force in may 2018 law "On sanctions and measures against the laundering of money" with "Magnitsky amendment.
Employee of a major investment Fund Hermitage Capital Management Sergey Magnitsky, whom Russian authorities accused of tax fraud, died in prison "sailor’s silence" in November 2009, having been in prison for almost a year. His death caused a wide public resonance both in Russia and abroad.
