Forsamlingsforbud gets The Royal Theatre to cancel a total of up to 31. July. Also the Aarhus Theatre cancels.

The Royal Theatre in Copenhagen cancels all performances until 31. July.

It is similar to the rest of the season 2019/2020, disclosed this in a press release.

It is both indoor and outdoor performances and other activities, which is cancelled.

Aflysningerne happens in the extension of the government’s decision to continue to prohibit large gatherings.

on Monday night said prime minister Mette Frederiksen (S) at a news conference that the ban be extended to 31. august.

All persons with tickets for the affected performances will be contacted directly by The Royal Danish Theatre after easter.

We ask for understanding that there can be no turnaround in the light of the many orders which must be handled, writes the theatre in the press release.

Some of the performances, which are affected by aflysningerne, is “Sommerballet”, “Opera in the open” and “the Hobbit”.

the Latter, which is based on the book by the author J. R. R. Tolkien, are instead postponed its premiere to 21. may 2021 in the Garden and at Moesgaard, Aarhus 20. may 2022.

the Audience with a ticket to the Hobbit in 2020 or 2021 have automatic tickets to the following year, and can, free of charge, the switch to a possible second date in the run.

– It has been necessary to postpone the performances in 2020 and 2021 in order to minimize the huge economic consequences in this situation, as, for example, the physical production to the deer park is already very far advanced, explains the theatre in the press release.

The Royal Theatre is far from the only provider of culture, who have been affected by the extension of the forsamlingsforbuddet.

Aarhus Theatre on Tuesday canceled the rest of all events and performances the rest of the season. It means that the 130 performances in april and may are cancelled.

Several of the country’s festivals have announced that they must cancel their events in the course of the next months.

for Example, the Roskilde Festival, Skanderborg Festival, Northside and Tinderbox has had to cancel.
