The film industry suffers multimillion-dollar losses

From January 1 through March 29 in our rolling out 30 domestic releases and one (“Slave”) in March continued to be shown in cinemas from December 2019. Joint efforts of these 30 releases 2020 and 15 releases from November-December 2019 assembled in our cinemas this year 8 billion 614 million rubles But their production without taking into account the cost of advertising and marketing has been spent 4 billion 431 million rubles. After the cinemas took half the amount of box office receipts (4 billion 307 million rubles), the losses of the industry without taking into account the share of the cost distributors for release in the rental amounted to 124 mln (production: 4 billion 431 million rubles rental fee: 4 billion 307 million rubles = loss: 124 million rubles). In January, the loss was equal to 184 million rubles, in February – 58 million rubles.

the highest grossing March release was the romantic Comedy “the Hotel “Belgrad” 455,4 million RUB followed by musical sports drama “Ice 2” – 177 million rubles (total ticket – 1 billion 546.1 million rubles). In third place sports biographical drama “One breath” – 51 million rubles. the Fourth position at the horror film “the witch. The nightmare of the dark forest” – 28.5 million rubles (total ticket – 75,5 million rubles). The fifth line from the historical-biographical drama “Kalashnikov” – 12 million rubles (total ticket – 118,1 mln rubles). The remaining 6 domestic releases March gathered more than 9 million rubles each.

In March, the fourth profitable Russian release (out of 30 released in 2020) was the romantic Comedy “the Hotel “Belgrade”, brought together in our cinemas 455,4 million rubles with a budget of 150 million rubles.

Now for all the known reasons, the work of the cinemas to resume at best in the second half of June. If this happens, CINprocat start to earn some money in July-August 2020.
