According to a media report, the French first division soccer team OGC Nice has parted ways with long-time Bundesliga coach Lucien Favre. The chapter in France ends very quickly for the Swiss.

The daily sports newspaper “L’Equipe” reported on Favre’s exit on Monday, but there was no official confirmation from the club. Nice reacted to the weak start after the World Cup break with just one point from two games and the embarrassing cup loss at third division club CO Le Puy at the weekend. Didier Digard, the former coach of the reserve team, is to act as interim coach for the time being.

Favre only took up coaching in Nice for the second time in the summer of 2022, after shortly before he had turned down his ex-club Borussia Mönchengladbach.

However, the engagement was not really successful. The ambitious Côte d’Azur club, owned by British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe and his company Ineos, currently sits eleventh in Ligue 1.

The 65-year-old Swiss Favre had previously coached the clubs Hertha BSC, Mönchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.
