In Italy, the employees of the Main Department of archeology, fine art and landscape of the city of Verona has unearthed a splendid mosaic of a Roman Villa, which last century was hidden under the vineyard.

As reported by L'Arena, this Villa dates from the third century ad. It was discovered in the 1920-ies in the village of Negrar Di Valpolicella, a suburb of Verona. But only now, archaeologists were able to explore it.

The fact that this place has a vineyard. Since the summer of 2019, the owners deliberated whether to give permission for excavations. Work started in October, when permission was finally obtained, but in February they were suspended because of the pandemic of novel coronavirus infection.

Archaeologists resumed work in may this year. For the study of the vineyard owners took them to small strips of land between rows of vines, but it was enough to make a significant find.

Deep below the surface, the team led by archaeologist Gianni de Zuccato found perfectly preserved luxury colorful mosaic with geometric ustrali that adorned the floors in a Roman Villa. According to him, was also discovered part of the Foundation. All this together will determine the layout and the exact dimensions of the ancient building.

Roberto Grison, the mayor of Negrar di Valpolicella, stated that he is very excited about the re-opening of this Villa, because it happened a whole century. The first and only so far excavations at the site was held in 1922.

Then the researchers took photos and documented their findings. However, they for some reason have not indicated the exact location is not given specific pointers on which to focus their followers.

It so happened that was found, but not thoroughly explored the Villa, was immediately forgotten and lost again. Only last summer, the archaeologists were able to "get out on the trail". Scientists believe that they may have managed to find the South side a large portico with columns, which overlooked the inner garden.
