Two vacationers from Germany are in Mallorca on suspicion of rape in prison. After the arrest of the two men in Playa de Palma, the judge on duty ordered the suspects to be taken into custody on Thursday, media reports from the Spanish Mediterranean island reported on Friday.
The spokesman for the Mallorcan police confirmed this information at the request of the German Press Agency. It was only on Saturday that 13 tourists from Germany were taken into custody for suspected arson in Mallorca.
The rape is said to have happened on Wednesday in a hotel on Ballermann. According to official information, the alleged victim is a 22-year-old who also comes from Germany and was on vacation on the island. The young woman appeared at the police station on Playa and wept about the rape.
The newspaper “Ultima Hora” reported, citing investigators, that the woman said she was intoxicated after visiting a bar, was approached by one of the two men and invited to a hotel room. There she was sexually abused. The two detainees meanwhile claimed that the young woman had consented to the sexual contact, the newspaper wrote.
