Jenna Patel, a student teacher from England, died of cancer at the age of 21. The reason for this was a misdiagnosis by her doctor. He had mistaken a small lump on her shoulder for a cyst, i.e. a small cavity filled with fluid. A little later, however, it turned out that it was a tumor, reports “Manchester Evening News”.
Jenna herself was very worried when she discovered the knot on her shoulder. But her doctor assured her there was “no reason to worry.” But the knot grew and grew.
Finally, another visit to the doctor in July last year provided clarity: Jenna was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma. It is a rare cancer that can lead to tumors in the bones or surrounding soft tissues.
The devastating news came just months after Jenna’s father was diagnosed with cancer himself.
Although the student received chemotherapy and took part in a clinical study, the treatment was no longer effective. The cancer had spread to her lungs. Eventually, Jenna passed away in May.
