After the engagement to Prince Harry, Duchess Meghan Markle withdrew from all social media channels. Now she announces her return to Instagram.

After her marriage to Prince Harry (37), Meghan Markle (41) deleted all her accounts on social media. The couple had even said goodbye to the common royal profile due to bullying.

In an interview with New York magazine The Cut, however, she now revealed: “I’m going back to Instagram.”

With her entry into the British royal family, Meghan, who previously worked as an actress, had to stop being active on social media and on her blog. She loved sharing her life back then, but loved her partner Prince Harry even more. “It was a big change – from the level of autonomy to a different life.”

At times, she and Harry then maintained a social media account called @sussexroyal, where they shared their own photos and news – unlike what is usual in the palace. “It was a big change – from the level of autonomy to a different life,” said Markle in the interview. For a long time she wasn’t sure “whether she would actually return to Instagram”.

Last year, Prince Harry fueled rumors about the joint social media account. He told Fast Company: “We will revisit social media when it feels right for us – maybe when we see more meaningful opportunities for change or reform – but right now a lot of our energy is focused on something about this area and how we can help.”

The time now seems to have come. When exactly and what she wants to share with her fans, however, remained open.
