“it was very hard to think that the championship had previously been interrupted only by world wars, but after careful and extensive consideration of all the scenarios we consider, ultimately the right decision to cancel the championship this year and instead focus on how we can use the breadth of resources of Wimbledon to help those in our local communities and beyond,” – said in a statement.

In 2021 Wimbledon will be held from June 28 to July 11.

Also on Wednesday, the President of the Russian tennis Federation Shamil Tarpischev told TASS that is not excluded a variant at which all the current tennis season may be cancelled due to the coronavirus.
