A mother abandoned her daughter on a motorway in Italy after an argument about a bad school grade. She now faces legal consequences.

In a shocking incident in Italy, a mother abandoned her daughter on a busy road as punishment for a bad grade at school. According to reports from “Südtirol News”, the 40-year-old mother threw her daughter out of the vehicle after an argument and drove away.

The 16-year-old schoolgirl was discovered late on Monday afternoon (May 27) by a police patrol on the side of a busy bypass road near Rome. This is probably the Grande Raccordo Anulare, the ring road around Rome.

“We argued about a bad grade and she threw me out of the car,” the officers quoted the girl as saying. The police took the girl to the station and filed a criminal complaint against the mother for child abuse, “Südtirol News” reports.

According to media reports, the girl was apparently a model student for whom the bad grade was an absolute exception. According to her own accounts, the 16-year-old tried to explain this to her mother and promised to improve in the future, but to no avail.

Instead, the mother apparently lost her nerve and drove onto the shoulder of the motorway, where she forced her daughter to get out and then drove away, according to “Südtirol News”. The girl was apparently so upset after the incident that she wandered around in the tunnel and risked being run over.

With the help of the 16-year-old’s statements, the mother was quickly located. What will happen to the 16-year-old girl now is unclear. The “Südtirol News” reports that it is possible that the mother could lose custody of the girl.

In a somewhat different incident in Austria, a bus driver recently left a mother and her screaming child on the street. The bus driver in Vienna was apparently so distracted by the baby’s screaming that he said he could no longer drive the bus safely. Numerous passengers protested against the man’s decision while still on the bus.
