The press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the region told “RG” that the regional center for the identification and support of gifted children “Altair” will function according to the model of the educational center “Sirius”.

“On behalf of the entire pedagogical community, on behalf of children and the parent community, we would like to express gratitude to the head of Dagestan Sergey Melikov for such a gift to the education system. The construction of the center is scheduled to begin in January 2022 on a republican land plot located in a picturesque place on the plateau of Mount Tarki-Tau,” commented Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan Yahya Buchaev on the transfer of the center.

He added that the year-round regional center will include a complex of educational and scientific sites, a laboratory building, a 300-seat academic building and campuses for 240 students. The training will be conducted by leading teachers of physics and mathematics, chemical and biological schools, as well as outstanding figures of art and sports.

He noted that earlier educational shifts according to the Sirius model were held on the basis of Dagestan universities, but there was no single center with equipment. An important fact is that classes for children will be held free of charge.

“Classes will be held in three areas: science, art and sports. The selection will take place in all municipalities of the republic. Shifts will take place regularly and for different classes, so we will not set a high threshold for entrance Olympiads. Our task is to enable as many students as possible to discover their talents and try their hand at the center,” Buchaev said.
