Svetlana Razvorotneva, a member of the expert council and assistant to the Commissioner for Human Rights in Moscow, called on Russians to unite in the fight against one of the most serious threats to world security – terrorism. She said this at a rally in memory of the victims of terrorist attacks, which was held at the Theater Center on Dubrovka.

Every year, on September 3, commemorative events dedicated to the Day of Solidarity in the Fight against Terrorism are held in the capital and throughout Russia. Today, Muscovites took part in a flower-laying ceremony at the memorial to the victims of the Nord-Ost, installed in front of the theater building on Dubrovka. This is how they honored the memory of those who died during terrorist attacks on civilians.

– More than two thousand Russians were victims of more than 70 terrorist acts committed in the period from 1999 to 2006. The bombings of houses on Guryanov Street and on Kashirskoye Highway, Buinaksk and Vologda, the seizure of the theater on Dubrovka and the school in Beslan – the task of the terrorists was to intimidate the Russians, weaken our spirit. But they failed to achieve this. The fight against terrorism has become the most important state task, ” Svetlana Razvorotneva said.

She said that over the past years, terrorist activity has significantly decreased due to the efforts of special services and law enforcement agencies that are engaged in preventing these crimes. But only the unity of all citizens of our country can stop the escalation of terrorism.

– These days, the whole world and the whole of Russia express their sympathy and solidarity to the families who lost their loved ones in the terrorist attacks. We will never forget about the victims and losses that we suffered in terrorist acts directed against Russians, against the civilian population and, most terrible of all, against children. Our common task is to prevent the repetition of these events, ” she stressed.
