This year there will be a competition for the award of the tourist award “Guiding Star”. The corresponding resolution was signed by Sergei Sobyanin.

The winners will be determined in the categories “Accommodation”, “Leisure”, “Gastronomy”, “Media”, “Comfort and Impressions”. The best will be chosen by online voting in the project “Active Citizen”.

This year, another category of the Ruspass travel service will appear at the competition — TravelTech. It will include the nominations “Startup of the Year”, “IT solution for the hotel and restaurant business”, “IT solution for business tourism”, “Digitalization of tourist display objects”.

Acceptance of applications for participation in the competition will begin in October. The award ceremony is scheduled for December.

The Guiding Star Award was established by the Committee on Tourism and Hotel Management in 1999. Its goal is to improve the quality of tourist and excursion services, hotel services, encourage innovative initiatives in the industry, and create a positive image of Moscow as a world tourist center.

The competition for the award has become an important event in the life of the capital’s hospitality industry. Moscow hotels, city festivals, gastronomic projects, architectural objects, travel companies, as well as industry managers and specialists compete annually for the title of the best. The winners of the competition are selected based on expert assessments, ratings of global booking systems, consumer reviews and voting results in the Active Citizen project.

The winners of the Guiding Star Award were 230 organizations, projects and industry leaders. Their great merit is the development of the hospitality industry in Moscow, increasing its attractiveness for Russian and foreign tourists. Before the pandemic, in 2019, 25.1 million tourists visited the capital. This is almost twice as much as in 2010.
