As the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Paderborn announced on Sunday, a high school, a junior high school and two primary schools will remain closed from Monday.
According to the city administration, seven schools and day-care centers will also be closed in Lippstadt next week. “In view of the extent of the damage that we are seeing at the various locations, it is currently unthinkable that classes can take place there in the next few days,” said Mayor Arne Moritz (CDU). Alternatives are being sought for some of the Abitur exams and exams that are still pending.
Five daycare centers that are located in Lippstadt within the historic flood will also not open next week. Safe access to the facilities cannot be guaranteed due to the consequences of the storm.
