As soon as it comes to art, culture and creativity, a broad smile flashes across the face of Queen Margrethe of Denmark. She has ruled Denmark for 50 years – and painting has been part of the regent’s life for at least as long. The mother of Crown Prince Frederik and Prince Joachim certainly does not need to build up a second financial source of income with her paintings. Nevertheless, the monarch’s watercolors are regularly auctioned – and fetch a fortune.

Just last year there was an auction where the Queen’s artwork was up for sale. According to “Dana Press”, the estimated sum that a buyer had to pay for a picture of the majesty was immense: 20,169 euros. But Margrethe’s watercolor was worth a lot more to a bidder. In the end, the work of art went to a new owner for the equivalent of 30,926 euros. More pictures of the Queen can be seen on the official website of the Danish royal family.

However, the pool of Margrethe’s creative works of art goes far beyond painting. The 82-year-old has already designed sets and costumes for the ballets “The Nutcracker” and “The Snow Queen” as well as for series and films. With so much creative effort, it seems only logical that Margrethe, at the proud age of 82, is still fit and full of energy. Her creative streak: for Henrik of Denmark’s widow like a kind of fountain of youth. Incidentally, the monarch speaks five languages and has a degree in ancient archaeology. She also has a good dose of humor. No wonder Margrethe is also called the “coolest queen in Europe”.

There was tea and champagne: Deborah James was happy about a visit from Prince William. He didn’t come empty-handed.

Charlène von Monaco and her sister-in-law Caroline von Hannover will probably never have an appointment together again. This is because of a contract.

In the recent past, Queen Elizabeth II has repeatedly had to cancel appointments for health reasons. However, she took part in a horse show on Friday.
