Against the background of ongoing massive Russian attacks on Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin exchanged views on the status of the military operation throughout the day, according to the Kremlin. Putin spent all of Friday on the staff of the forces involved in the special military operation in Ukraine, the Kremlin said on Saturday. Among other things, a Putin held a meeting attended by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov.

The President also had “separate meetings” with the commanders of the various services involved in the operation.

“I would like to hear your suggestions on our short and medium-term actions,” Putin said at the meeting, excerpts of which were broadcast on Russian state television on Saturday.

Putin’s briefings came after Ukraine was hit again by Russian missiles on Friday. According to Ukrainian authorities, the attacks led to power outages across the country.

Russia this fall faced a series of military setbacks in the offensive in Ukraine that began in February. Since October, Moscow has been using a tactic of massive attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
