Westham United star Kurt Zouma admits to kicking and hitting his cat in a British court. Now he could face up to five years in prison.

Confessed: West Ham United defender Kurt Zouma pleads guilty to animal cruelty to his cat in a UK court. In two cases he caused unnecessary suffering to the animal. The 27-year-old could face up to five years in prison.

Fined: West Ham handed Zouma the maximum possible fine of £250,000 (just under €300,000). He can continue to play for the club. Adidas, meanwhile, is completely ending its collaboration with the France international.

Filmed: The reason for the court case and the penalties is a video that Zouma’s brother published on Snapchat earlier this year. The West Ham player can be seen throwing the Bengal cat across his kitchen before throwing a pair of shoes at her and hitting her on the head. The words can also be heard: “I swear I’ll kill her.”
